Great 4 season tarp!
So, a few years ago, I ordered one of Dan's 12x12.5, 1.9 ounce green tundra tarp for camping. I like sleeping on a cot under a tarp. Not all squeezed in that way. Plus, you have lots of room to cook, sit in a real chair to watch the rain, invite camping pards under the tarp who are getting soaked in their tiny, 500 dollar pile of nylon and poles and stuff, which they didn't set up right and had it collapse on them in the middle of the cold, wet, windy, rainy night...
I was constantly perplexed by tarp campers who buy those 3x3 meter tarps and then have to squeeze to get them, their invariably 90 pound dog, and all their expensive camera gear tucked under shelter. Bigger is better for me, especially in winter, so I ordered one of Dans 15x15, 1.9 oz tarp in white. Then it dawned on me that I have no space in which to do a seam seal, so come spring, I'll be out there smearing up the threads...
The white, I realized, will work in hot weather too, by bouncing those hot sun rays back to where they came from, providing a little extra relief from the heat!
I am perfectly satisfied with CCS tarps; my green one has stood several nasty mountain storms without one iota of complaint or misfortune.
ALSO, don't miss his rapid deployment bag, for a Ridgeline setup, I forget what he calls it, but it works slick as all get out! It's the orange bag you have to get separately.
