I am disappointed in the manner in which this case secures the equipment (Bob Dustrude 21" saw and Grans For forest axe). The axe rides upside down with nothing more than the tiny brass knob through a leather strap. The knob does not fit the slit in the strap very well, and it wouldn't take much to dislodge it and the axe would be on the trail. The saw pocket has not securing feature at all; just a long pocket. Accidently invert the sling and the saw is out. I added two Bungee Deely Bobs to hold the axe flap strap in place over the knob, and one to squeeze the saw near the top. The tension of these elastic cords should hold everything in place in most situations. Not a well-thought out design. I suggest adding a tied-down flap for the saw pocket, and a buckle strap for the inverted axe sleeve flap. I'd hate to drop my equipment and have to retrace my steps on a portage trail to retrieve it, or worse.
Carry your axe hands free
I've looked all over for a well made product like this. I'm extremely happy with Frost River and the Boundary Waters Catalog's version. Having two lets me have my two favorite worker axes ready to go and a compact wood saw to boot. Thanks again.
The perfect way to carry an axe
I was given this sling along with the Isle Royal pack for a lifetime of backpacking/camping. It holds my axe and Sven saw perfectly! Either car camping or backpacking, this sling helps you easily carry your tools to where you need it and it looks good too!
Great product but
I bought this product to take an ax and a wood Buck saw with my out in the woods looking for camp fire wood. the quality of the product of this great and it is design is simple and to the point. I cannot put a wood buck saw and ax at the same time. The saw area needs to be enlarged to be useful for its intended purpose.
