Froe by Gransfors Bruk

The froe is an old-time tool used for splitting straight-grained wood. 12" hand forged iron blade fitted with a 18" hickory handle.  In use, the thick, blunt blade is driven into your stock with wooden maul or heavy mallet, and the handle is pulled or pushed.
Forged from a special Swedish axe steel, the blades are tempered and annealed to the correct toughness.  First quality hickory handles.  Axe heads are oiled at the forge.   Each axe comes with a book that describes maintenance and use in detail, along with photos of the craftsman at work.
