Shore Lunch
by Ken Hupila
Growing up on the southern edge of the boreal forest in Minnesota gave Ken every opportunity to explore the great outdoors. From early days at his grandfather's resort, to a lasting home near Ely, Ken became an educator at Ely Public Schools for 33 years and used guiding in the Boundary Waters as his summer job. Along the way he traveled to exotic wilderness locations in Canada, Alaska, Iceland and the American West- fishing most of the way! A 500 mile paddle along the Albany River to Hudson Bay in 2006 became the crown jewel of a lifetime traveling the back country. In 2001 Ken grabbed a new digital camera and added the title of professional photographer to his resume. Wanting another avenue to share his vast experiences, he has put his travels to words in Shore Lunch and Singing Waters.
