North Star Resort
by Russ Vanderboom
North Star Resort, her childhood home, where Lynn North retreats to raise her twin children and car for her ailing father and sister. There, Lynn finds strength and inspiration in the teachings of wise women, the love of family, and the mystical resilience of the northland lakes and forests. With the help of strong women who mentor her in the ways of motherhood and nature, Lynn finds power in her childhood home where her mother nurtured her to be inspired by the ways of love for family and the natural gifts of the northland’s lakes, boreal forests, and flora. Lynn’s North Star Resort, the wilderness outpost where she builds her family that extends beyond her children, father and sister. North Star Resort, the font from which her prayers and intentions call out to Patrick Joyce, her children’s father, who she let go to enable him to find his purpose and meaning in life. To allow Patrick to travel trails and learn of the essence of time, love, and the meaning of being. But after meandering the streets of Germany, or the trails of Appalachian woodlands, Patrick finds it is from Lynn’s home that he gains the freedom to embrace his potential as a man, spouse, and father.
