Great overall, but...
I concur with all of the the good things that have been said by the other reviews. I bought a pair for a 15-day trip down the Noatak River, AK and they performed well. They’ve also become my go to travel pants because they’re so comfortable.
My only complaint, that will prevent me from buying another pair, is the lack of a zippered cargo/phone pocket in one of the legs. Hard core traditionalists are probably rolling their eyes, but a phone is not just a phone anymore. My “phone” is also my camera, video camera, gps, backup compass, notebook and journal now. In the boat, not a big deal because I use my life vest. The back left pocket is large enough for a iPhone Plus (barely), but I personally would prefer to carry it in a place where I don’t have to take it out to sit down.
Oddly shaped pants.
In my size, the double knee started well below my knee so that when I lifted my leg the top knee seam would catch and pull. I think this may well be the reason for the frequent reports of seam failures there. Also, I don't understand the notion that 2" to 4" (!?) wide belt loops enhance one's ability to carry sheath knives, etc.. As someone who carries that stuff daily, I would say they do quite the opposite, they get in the way.
So I took them all apart and resewed them. I raised the double knee 3" and reduced all the belt loops to 3/4" and now i'm pleased with them. Was it worth it? Dunno. Consider all this before you sit in pine sap and can't return yours.
I'm still going to give these a 3 because they are truly well made, triple-stitched throughout, articulated knees, super-light fabric etc. (and maybe none of this other stuff bothers you)
Great paddling pants!
I just love these "Wet Leg Canoe Pants". They are tough-as-nails, ultra lightweight, wind-resistant and they dry almost instantly. They're cool when it's hot, and when combined with light long johns, they're toasty in frigid weather. I especially like the strategically-placed belt loops that positively contain belt knives and multi-tools. When packed, they take up almost no space at all.
HOLDS UP VERY WELL IN CANOE COUNTRY AND TREKKING AROUND IN THE BUSH. THANKS FOR SELLING SUCH A GOOD PRODUCT
Ideal Travel Pants
I have been searching for the best travel pants for a while now. I think I've found them! These pants are all nylon for low weight and bulk. Triple stitched throughout. Tunnel belt loops are bar tacked for strength. Button and hole closure and zip front. They hand wash easily using Hotel bar soap and they dry overnight.
They have a reinforced knee and seat making them rip-out proof.
With the addition of long underwear they cover a wide range of weather conditions.
They are comfortable with that elastic waist! There are two zippered pockets, one right rear and one left front. The usual set of pockets are present too. Five pockets hold a lot of stuff that would otherwise go into a bag.
So reliable are they that I think I can get away with just one pair of worn pants! This results in being able to travel with just one five pound bag!
Zippered pockets are a must when traveling. Any additional security is important!
Very much five stars! Good pants...
The fit is superb
Steve: These new nylon pants are excellent. The fit is superb, the look is great and the Velcro back pockets are a huge improvement. These will be great river pants—they dry in a flash and weigh almost nothing. Great job on these. These are winners. Really.
Best, Cliff Jacobson
