Still Great Decades Later My husband bought this saw close to 30 years ago for BWCA trips, but also uses it at home some. It's still working great, but is ready for a new sharper replacement blade. I'm glad to see those are available. I, a petite female, also find it easy and enjoyable to use.

Still growing strong and awesome I bought mine in '73 in Ottawa. Has been on many canoe trips and winter camps. Still cuts quick and clean and there is no issue with theframe. My sons-in-law love it.

Beautiful saw that cuts with ease The craftsmanship is superb, very well made. With the tension bar able to keep the blade stiff, the saw cuts like a warm knife through butter. That may sound like an exaggeration but compare it to any of the other saws on the market and you'll see what I mean. Besides its traditional beauty, it's a very serious cutting tool that does an excellent job.

Efficient and beautiful Cut enough oak for a weekend of campfires recently with a newly acquired Schmidt Pack Saw. Saw goes together easy enough and the fit is excellent. This saw has the most solid feel of any I have used. I've used metal framed saws on a number of trips where trails were blown closed and more time was spent with a saw in my hand than a paddle. I've not used a metal saw that was as comfortable to use as the Schmidt. Pretty enough to hang on the cabin wall when not tripping too.

Perfect for backpacking, hiking, canoeing The tension bar on the top allows you to keep the blade tight and it packs down into a nice packable size. It's hand made quality.
